And yet, when something goes wrong, the response is still reactive. People notice the issue late, scramble to understand it, and then argue about what should have happened.
The problem isn’t lack of data. It’s that dashboards are built to observe, while operations need help to decide.
Why dashboards rarely drive action on their own

Alerts fired days earlier, flagged which customers were exposed, and suggested transfers from alternate locations. Not every alert required action, but enough did to materially reduce emergency freight.
The dashboard didn’t go away. It just stopped being the first line of defense.
The human side of alert design
Alerts fail as much for organizational reasons as for technical ones. If acting on an alert requires escalation through three layers, teams will wait. If responding to an alert carries risk but ignoring it does not, alerts will be ignored.
